Special: Uniroyal Implosion - June 17, 2000

On June 17, 2000, six structures that were part of the Uniroyal/Ball Band manufacturing complex in Mishawaka, IN were imploded as part of the site preparation for the planned Mishawaka River Center project.  Thousands were on hand to witness the demolition process.  It was a time of memories and sadness for many - Uniroyal, and its predecessor firms, United States Rubber, Mishawaka Rubber, and Mishawaka Woolen, have been part of the fabric of the city for well over a century.  At the same time, there was a festive atmosphere, fueled by the excitement of the "fireworks" and anticipation of a new look for downtown Mishawaka.  D. H. Griffin of Texas performed the demolition - see photos below and on linked pages.
